Sparkle On Raven! Reanimated!

February 1st, 2025

My second Reanimated-type collaboration! Probably the most complicated animation I did to-date, especially in terms of scope.

Watch the entire collab here.

This one has audio! Unmute your engines!

A very primitive 3D model that vaguely resembles Locke from Sparkle On Raven.
The Human Base Meshes from Blender Studio came in handy with getting the proportions right. Kind of.
A very primitive 3D model that vaguely resembles Raven from Sparkle On Raven.
She kind of looks like a Gorillaz character here.

An early test animation. The ball remained mostly unchanged.

A 2D digital illustration of Berrycream Frosting from Sparkle On Raven.
I didn't feel like modelling characters that would only show up for a few frames, so I thought it would be really funny if they were corkboard standees instead.
A 2D digital illustration of Dark Shi from Sparkle On Raven.
I was correct. It was pretty fucking hilarious.
A wireframe view of a face mesh that more closely resembles Locke.
The making of a Resting Bitch Face. Before you ask, yes I was looking at pictures and models of Polnareff for reference.
A wireframe view of Locke's torso and arms, from the front.
Even his muscles are angry!
A wireframe view of Locke's torso and arms, from the back. His ass is flat.
NODBODY LOOK! HE ASS!
A toon-shaded Locke, in full color.
I experimented with toon shading before I ultimately decided to go for a painterly look.
Locke's skin model deforming in rage, while the rest of him remains in reference pose.
Dissociation
The head model of Raven, without hair, pupils and lashes.
A creepy-looking Raven made before I finalized the eyes.
The head model of Raven now with hair and lashes, but no pupils.
Slightly better, but she looked like a Shmorky character here. The less said about that, the better.
A closeup of Raven's eyes, now with pupils and flat anime-style shading.
Muuuuch better. I even edited the normals to be more flat, while keeping the originals for iris reflections.
A wireframe view of Raven's body model.
She's no longer a toy.
A solid-view of Raven's model, now with her magical girl uniform!
The sparkle is almost showing.
A closeup of Raven's sneakers.
I bought the Laces Generator from the Blender Market for her shoes. Worth it. Locke doesn't have laces because he probably doesn't know how to tie them.
A closeup of Raven's upper body, with her eyes closed. She has brushstrokes on her textures now.
This is the point where I experimented with brushstroke textures after watching TMNT: Mutant Mayhem for the trillionth time.
An animated gif of Sadie's demonsona, walking dejectedly.
The "pensive" animation used in the credits, made with Clip Studio Paint.
An animated gif of Sadie's demonsona, walking cheerfully..
The "cheerful" animation used in the credits, also done with CSP.
The logo for Sparkle On Raven! The Life of DrillGirl, in the style of Super Mario 64.
A silly thing I made for the separate YouTube upload of the credits music.
